Respect Life

Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of Life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being  (Catechism of the Catholic Church,  2258).

Respecting all life, a belief every Catholic holds includes all human life from conception until natural death.

To respect life at its beginning we must follow these guidelines:

· Abortion from fertilization of the egg onward is a grave sin. Grave sins/mortal sins must be confessed before receiving Holy Communion at Mass.

· Take no vaccines that use abortion derived cell lines.

· Contraception harms God’s design for married love and the gift of life. Research Natural Family Planning for more information.

· You shall not cooperate in abortions. This includes supporting legislation or legislators who are pro-abortion.

· Euthanasia and suicide are against God’s law to “not kill” (Exodus 20:13).

· You shall not participate in or tolerate  or cooperate in criminal executions.

· You shall not use artificial insemination as it interferes with God’s plan for creation.

· You shall care for the sick and dying.

Donum Vitae teaches that if a given medical intervention helps or assists the marriage act to achieve pregnancy, it may be considered moral; if the intervention replaces the marriage act in order to engender life, it is not moral.

For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.

Luke 1:44

Abortion

Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.

God, the Lord of Life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2271)

End of Life

Catholics require nourishment and water during their end of life. Please consider filling out a Catholic Living Will and making sure your healthcare providers and family know that you only wish to receive fluids and nutrition.
